5k's and Tears

So, I found out the 5k I was looking forward to all year was canceled secondary to the COVID-19 crisis (using my medical documentation skills right thurr).  Rock The Locks 5k is put on by our downtown and this year was going to be its second year running.  Last year I ran it as my first 5k and I LOVED it.  You got to run through the Soo Locks Park, down historic Water Street, and around by the Valley Camp Museum Ship.  It started and ended in Brady Park and there was music, dancing, and fun themed runners. After a much-needed cry session, I started thinking.  Just because the race was canceled didn't mean I couldn't run it the best I could alone.  So, the other night I started training.  This was my first outdoor run after it became too dangerous (icy) to run outside last year and let me tell you, the sidewalks have nothing on a treadmill.  It was hard to transition to running outdoors.  No moving belt to keep you propelling forward, no TV ...

Its Just A Little Crush

If you all don't already know me, I'm a little shy.  Well, A LOT shy actually.  Especially when it comes to my emotions.  I live most of my life in my head, mainly because I have a lot of spare time, hence why I started this blog.  Sometimes I'm an open book, but most times I'm quiet, reserved, and read too much into things.  Take my most recent crush for example. About 3 years ago I developed a crush on a guy after having a dream.  This gentleman was kind, caring, and had no idea I existed, let alone lusted after him.  I mean c'mon now I wasn't pining away in my room drawing hearts on my notebook or anything.  I was just pining in silence. It took about a year for me to grow a pair (and yes, but a "pair" I do in fact mean balls) and ask him to come hang out with my friends and I.  Well I got turned down.  Very gently, I might add, with a legit excuse.  A few weeks later I tried again and again I was turned down.  As if the...

Exucses: A Girl, Stop Apologizing Book Review Series

Guys, Rachel Hollis has a new book!  If you read "Girl, Wash Your Face" this is a great companion book.  It's called "Girl, Stop Apologizing."  This book is split up into 3 parts and has, as Rachel says, "the tools to change your life."  Today I'm going to talk a little bit about my thoughts on "Part One: Excuses To Let Go Off."  Rachel starts her newest self help book off with 9 excuses we all come up with to not chase a goal. That's Not What Other Women Do My pal Rach (we're Facebook friends so I get to call her that lol) starts off the book by saying we need to take ownership of what we do.  Whether it be photography, work, or writing a blog like me, we are not all little robots, we are each unique people.  We are not going to all fit in the same cookie cutter mold.  She says if you want something, stop thinking about it not being "what other people do" and reach for it. I'm Not a Goal-Oriented Person This...
