Beach Essentials for the UP

Well hello again.  As some of you may have noticed, it has been awhile since I posted a blog.  I know you all missed me.  It has been a bit of a time management struggle with this whole school thing, but more on that in a later post.  Today I want to talk about the weather.  It is almost the Fourth of July, which means beaches and cookouts!  I love the beach.  Especially the beaches UP here (see what I did there).  The weather is starting to be perfect for the beach.  Below is a list of things I take to beach adventures.  Also if you want to you can click the pictures to shop for your own products!

1.  Bathing suit

     The number one beach essential for everyone.  I mean, honestly, who goes to the beach but doesn't swim?   Even if you just wade....  Below is my favorite from Amazon!   (Click the picture to see details)

2.   My pooch

     If you don't have a dog, you should really get one (just kidding).  I love taking Bear to the beach. It gets him worn out real quick.  We play fetch.  Well Bear's version of fetch where he goes to get the stick, fights me for it and when he gets tired, he tries to hide it.  It is just nice to have a beach buddy since its just me and he is the perfect one.


3.    Beach Blanket

     The essential beach item.  We all need a blanket to lay on, set stuff on, claim your shore spot with.  Bonus points if its colorful.  Below is my personal favorite, you can click it to view the full product!

4.   Cooler

    You'll always need a cooler to keep beverages and sandwiches (if you do a full day like me) cool and fresh!  LOOK this one is a tote with a cooler in it!  (Click the picture to see details)

5.   Beverages
    
     We have our cooler, now we need to fill it.  I personally love water and will freeze 2-3 bottles of water to use as "ice packs" to keep my 2-3 other bottles cold.  This trick also saves you from having those reusable ice packs.


6.     Food/Snacks

     I love have something to munch on at the beach.  Usually, I bring baby carrots, celery, chicken salad, pita bread and broccoli.  All which is carried in my cooler!

7.    A Good Book

     Any book or form of reading material is great for a beach day!  I currently am reading Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis.  But I do love the occasional Mary Higgins Clark mystery.  Check out some great beach reads on Amazon to find your new beach bag book.


8.     Beach Bag

     With all this stuff we are taking to the beach, we need a great bag.  I need to know your favorite kind, because I am in the market for a new one.  Help me choose by clicking here, then commenting your favorite!


9.     A towel

     You can't go to the beach and NOT swim.  I, mean, I gues you could, but that's no fun.  I love to choose HUGE towels because why not?  Why not take a peek at some towels, I mean, if you want....


10.     Finally, and most importantly you need to bring......

          YOURSELF!!!

Just Say Yes

     Wow, has it really been almost a year since I last posted?  A lot has happened.  I spent most of my days at the beach with Bear last summer, I got a 4.0 in the Fall 2020 Semester, I began my second to last semester (I think) at BMCC, COVID still exists, I have become more of a hermit than ever.  Which brings me to the reason for this post.  I am in a Liberal Arts Capstone course this semester at BMCC and one of our assignments this week was to pick a day and say "Yes" to every request that is posed that day.  This was an interesting concept and could offer up more opportunities for growth, networking, and advancement in my desired career. One Small Step, One Giant Leap

This past November I took a small step in my life.  I applied to community college.  I had decided to try to pursue one of the biggest goal I let slip by.... A degree.  For those who don't know me personally, I did not complete my college career.  Now is my time to shine. I really want to help people.  When I first went to college, I spent my whole first year trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up.  Well I'm grown up now and I have realized that I want to help people.  I want to become a counselor and eventually a psychologist. I know its a little late in life for this decision.  But hey, such is life.  If you can't chase your dreams at any age, what's the point?
