The Importance of Alone Time

Today's verse is from Matthew, chapter 14, verse 23.

"And after he [Jesus] had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray."

We all need alone time.  Even Jesus.  Imagine being Him and the weight that was on His shoulders.  the weight of knowing He was God's only Son and was meant to die at some point to save us all.  That had to have been hard.

Its puts our daily struggles into perspective.  Everyone deserves alone time, no matter what that looks like to you.  You can have alone time with a journal and pen, blaring music and dancing around, taking a nap, etc.  There are lots of ways to be alone, but not feel alone.  Praying is one of those ways.

When you pray, you're not alone, God is with you.  God is always with you no matter what.  Praying is just another way to talk to Him.  And even though you can't hear Him speak to you, He always answers back.

Alone time recharges not only our bodies, but our spirits as well.  I personally need to learn to spend more time reflecting and working on myself.  What do you need to spend time on?

Reflection also helps us work out our flaws.  Mine include procrastination.  It took me years to figure out that I was a big procrastinator, sitting down and writing in my journal has opened my eyes to this major flaw.  I am now ready to work on my flaws.  Are you?
